Interviewer: Thank you for joining us today, Sarah, to talk about your experience living with hearing aids. Can you start by telling us a little about yourself and how long you’ve been wearing hearing aids?

Sarah: Of course. My name is Sarah, and I’ve been wearing hearing aids for about ten years now. I was diagnosed with hearing loss when I was in my early twenties and started wearing hearing aids soon after.

Interviewer: Can you tell us about the process of getting hearing aids and what that was like for you?

Sarah: It was a bit daunting at first because I didn’t know what to expect. I was referred to an audiologist who did a hearing test and talked me through the different options for hearing aids. We settled on a pair that would work for my degree of hearing loss, and the audiologist helped me get the right fit and settings for me.

Interviewer: What was it like wearing hearing aids for the first time?

Sarah: It was a bit strange at first because everything sounded different. But at the same time, it was also amazing because I could hear things that I hadn’t heard in years. I could hear birds singing and leaves rustling, and I could even hear my own footsteps. It was like rediscovering the world around me.

Interviewer: Where did you buy your first hearing aid?

Sarah bought her first hearing aid from a local audiology clinic that was recommended to her by her doctor. She worked closely with the audiologist to find the right fit and settings for her hearing aids. Since then, Sarah has become a regular customer of House of Hearing, a hearing aid provider that offers a range of hearing aid models, accessories, and services. Sarah appreciates the knowledgeable and friendly staff at House of Hearing, who have helped her to maintain her hearing aids over the years and keep them in good working order.

Interviewer: How has wearing hearing aids affected your daily life?

Sarah: It’s made a huge difference. I’m able to communicate much more easily with people, and I don’t have to ask them to repeat themselves as often. I can also enjoy things like music and movies again, which is really important to me. And I feel a lot more confident in social situations because I can hear everything that’s going on.

Interviewer: Have you ever experienced any stigma or discrimination because of your hearing aids?

Sarah: Thankfully, no. I think there can be a bit of a stigma around hearing aids, but most people are really understanding and supportive. If anything, I’ve had people tell me that they admire me for wearing hearing aids and being proactive about my hearing loss.

Interviewer: What advice would you give to someone who is considering getting hearing aids?

Sarah: I would say to go for it. It can be a bit scary at first, but it’s so worth it. Hearing aids have made such a huge difference in my life, and I think they can do the same for other people. And don’t be afraid to ask questions or to advocate for yourself – your audiologist is there to help you, and they want you to be happy with your hearing aids.

Interviewer: Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience living with hearing aids?

Sarah: I would just say that it’s been a really positive experience overall. There have been some challenges along the way, like learning how to take care of the hearing aids and dealing with background noise. But overall, the benefits have far outweighed the difficulties. I feel so much more connected to the world around me, and I’m grateful every day for the ability to hear.
