Pregnancy Symptoms

Pregnancy is one of the most wonderful times in a woman’s life.  When a couple is trying to conceive, they will often watch for early cues that are also known as pregnancy symptoms.  These signs may indicate pregnancy before a test is positive though many of the signs are similar to premenstrual signs as well.

Fatigue is one of the most common pregnancy symptoms.  Many woman become extremely tired.  The degrees of fatigue vary for each woman and can even differ by each pregnancy in the same woman.  Some women feel extra tired at certain times during the day while others are exhausted all of the time regardless of how much sleep they get.

Frequent urination is another common pregnancy symptom.  Women will find themselves heading for the bathroom more frequently than usual.  This can be a sign of a bladder or kidney infection though in pregnancy, urination will increase while an infection will just create the urge to go with no results.

Nausea, also known as morning sickness, is another pregnancy symptom that can show up early in a pregnancy.  This also varies by woman and pregnancy.  Some women simply feel nauseous if they have not eaten while others will actually throw up after they have eaten.  For some women, the throwing up may be so severe that medication is necessary to keep from getting dehydrated and malnourished.

Headaches and backaches are also common pregnancy symptoms.  These aches and pains can be common with or without pregnancy but the rise in hormones can cause these aches to become more frequent.

Changes in the breasts are also an indication of an impending pregnancy.  The areolas may darken and the breasts may become swollen and tender.  These pregnancy symptoms are often some of the first indicators that a woman may be pregnant.

All pregnancy symptoms can also be symptoms of other varying problems that a woman may be experiencing.  The only guaranteed way to know if you are pregnant is to take a home pregnancy test or see your doctor for a test.  If you do get a positive test, it is important to get healthcare as soon as possible to ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby.
